Train the Trainer ppt

Hi,

One of our blog reader shared the book which will be very useful for your life & the same want to share with you folks.

Here are some tips for all the trainers out there!
You may be an on the job trainer, teach in a Tafe or perhaps you work for a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) like us.  Below are some tips that have been devised by our very own trainers who deliver training to individuals and groups of people frequently.
Tip #1 Preparation- is the key to delivering successful training sessions in terms of learning the content, the way you structure the training, present the material and the activities you include.  The more preparation you put in, the more confidence you will have when delivering the training.
Tip #2 Making people feel comfortable- the best thing to do if you are training a new group of people is to use ice breakers at the start of the session. Doing things like splitting people up into pairs and giving them a list of questions to ask one another, gives people the opportunity to interact and feel more at ease.
You can have set questions for people to ask, even fun ones like what is your favourite food? Or where is your favourite place in the world?  Things that will spark conversation, people like finding common ground and feel comfortable when they know who they are learning with. It’s great to do a few ice breakers throughout the training too as it breaks up the learning and is also great for when a trainer wants to start discussions, people will input more ideas and speak freely when they are comfortable with each other.

Tip #3 Deliver content in an interesting way- Rather than simply reading out of a text book, provide lots of examples, include different types of activities and involve people by interacting with them and sparking debates; this breaks up the monotony of learning theory and also ensures that you are catering to different styles of learners (visual, auditory and kinesthetic), so you cover all your bases! By doing this, people retain the information and stay engaged throughout the training session.
Tip #4 Assess the diversity of your group- it’s important to know information regarding the people you are about to train. Each individual is different in terms of their LLN (language, literacy and numeracy) skills, learning style (visual, auditory or kinesthetic) and possible disabilities. Knowing these factors enable you to best cater to the needs of each person, to ensure that everyone can learn in the environment you provide them!
Tip #5 Have knowledge about the subject- It’s really important to have knowledge about the subject you are delivering. Ensure that you give yourself enough time to prepare and learn the content so that you can deliver the training in the most valuable way to your learners.
If you don’t know the topics in depth then ensure that you have a technical expert sit in with you so that they can answer any specific questions when needed.
Otherwise, you find trainers who are not familiar with a topic, will often read directly from a text book. To most people, this way of learning can become very monotonous and likely reduce retention of information.
Tip #6 Be approachable- when training your team, work with a hands on approach ask questions and spark a debate- people retain knowledge easier when they are talking about it and are engaged in the learning process. By keeping the class interactive, your students will find you a lot more approachable and easy to communicate with.
